Haryana Teachers Eligibility Test 2011 Guidelines

                         HARYANA TEACHERS’ ELIGIBILITY TEST – 2011

INTRODUCTION :
A person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher or Lecturer in any of  the schools recognized by the Department of School Education, Haryana and affiliated by the Board of School Education, Haryana has to qualify the “Haryana Teacher’s Eligibility Test”. Qualifying in the Teacher  Eligibility Test is made mandatory to ensure that persons recruited as teachers possess the essential aptitude and ability to meet the challenges of teaching at Elementary, Secondary and Senior Secondary levels. This test will be conducted by this Board in accordance with these Guidelines and such other Rules/Regulations/Instructions/Policies laid down by
the National Council for Teacher Education/Department of School Education, Haryana

Last Date:12/8/2011.

ELIGIBILITY, SCHEME/STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF  TEST: 
All individuals who posses minimum educational qualifications, etc. as delineated here under are eligible to take the Test (HTET). This will be for three categories:-
i) who intents to be a teacher for classes I to V and fulfills the minimum qualification.
ii) who intents to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII and fulfills the minimum qualification.
iii) who intents to be a lecturer for classes IX to XII and fulfills the minimum qualification.
However, a person who intents to be a teacher for levels (i) and (ii) mentioned here above (i.e. teacher for classes I to V and VI to VIII) and fulfils minimum qualifications for both categories will have to apply for both 
separately on separate application forms and appear in both the papers meant for these categories. Similarly, if a person also intents to be a lecturer, he/she will have to apply on separate application form also and appear in the paper meant for this category. 
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO APPLY FOR BOTH CATEGORIES ( TEACHER FOR CLASSES I TO V AND VI TO VIII):
Application No. printed on the application form of Category No. 1 has to be mentioned in the relevant column of application form of Category No. 2 and similarly application number of application form of category No. 2 has to be mentioned in the relevant column of application form of Category No. 1. 

SCHEME/STRUCTURE AND CONTENT: 
CATEGORY  1: Teachers for classes I to V
There shall be only one paper in this category. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) each carrying one mark with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. 6 No. of MCQs – 150; Duration of examination: one-and-a-half hours.
Structure and Content (All Compulsory):
  (i)  Child Development and pedagogy 30 MCQs 30 Marks 
  (ii) Language I (Hindi)   30 MCQs 30 Marks 
  (iii) Language II (English)   30 MCQs 30 Marks 
          (iv) Mathematics    30 MCQs 30 Marks 
  (v) Environmental Studies  30 MCQs 30 Marks 

CATEGORY  2: Teachers for classes VI to VIII
 No. of MCQs–150; Duration of Examination: one-and-a-half hours. 
Structure and Content:
 (i)    Child Development & Pedagogy (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 Marks 
 (ii)   Language I (Hindi)(Compulsory)  30 MCQs 30 Marks 
 (iii)  Language II(English) (Compulsory)  30 MCQs 30 Marks 
 (iv)   (a) For Mathematics and Science Teacher:  Mathematics and Science –   
        60 MCQs of 1 mark each 
(b) For Social Studies teacher:                        Social Studies –  
                                                                       60 MCQs of 1 mark each 
(c) For any other teacher – either (iv) (a) or  (iv) (b) 
CATEGORY  3: Lecturers  

No. of MCQs–150; Duration of Examination: one-and-a-half hours. 
Structure and Content:
 (i)    Child Development & Pedagogy (compulsory) 30 MCQs 30 Marks 
 (ii)   Language I (Hindi)(Compulsory)  30 MCQs 30 Marks 
 (iii)  Language II(English) (Compulsory)  30 MCQs 30 Marks 
 (iv)  Subject specific     60 MCQs 60 Marks 

MARKS QUALIFYING : 60%
NEGATIVE MARKING: There shall be no negative marking

Note:  i) Old STET Certificate of JBT Category will be valid for Classes I to V only.  
ii) Old STET Certificate of Master Category will be valid for Classes VI to VIII only. 
iii) Old Certificate of STET (Lecturer) shall be considered as valid for eligibility for Lecturer/PGT category.
